Fire service ratings are performed by (ISO) Insurance Services Office Inc., upon request of the local municipalities in an attempt to bring the fire service classification down for the benefit of the property owners through reduced rates. The lower the rating the lower our property insurance premium will be. The Jerome Township Board, as well as the Jerome Township Fire Department have worked very hard to get that rating low so township residents can enjoy lower insurance premiums. Lots of factors go into this rating system but part of if is distance to city water hydrants, (flow rates), and distance to the fire department. The type of equipment, and the training of the fire department staff including the training certifications that they may possess. See the letter below and if you feel you are not getting the insurance rating we have worked so hard to provide, you may copy this letter and present it to your insurance carrier for clarification.
